Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board

Apply for registration

In New Zealand, sanitary plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying work is restricted and can only be carried out by practitioners who are registered and licensed to do so.

There are three levels you can be registered in as a plumber, gasfitter and/or a drainlayer. Each of these levels of registration has requirements you need to meet in order to be registered. Check each pathway and its requirements to see which one you may qualify for.

If you are moving to New Zealand and want to carry out plumbing, gasfitting and/or drainlaying, you will need to register and apply for a licence.
